A Family (and Friends) Affair

RunReigate, an annual event attracting over 3,000 competitors, should have been taking place on Sunday 20th September. Sadly this year's event was cancelled owing to COVID-19, but that didn't stop PSDS member Manda who had originally signed up for it. Manda has taken part in RunReigate before with her Joggers For Jack team completing various distances to raise funds for PSDS as a thank you for the support we give her son Jack.

This year, Manda had planned to run three half marathons, including RunReigate. She managed to complete her first one, the Croydon Half Marathon, just before we went in to lockdown but with the cancellation of the Gatwick Half Marathon and RunReigate Manda decided she would still run her own half marathons in order to complete her challenge.

So, bright and early on Sunday morning, Manda set off from Reigate's Priory Park and ran 13.15 miles in a personal best time of 2 hours and 18 minutes. She was joined along the RunReigate route by 7 friends and family members, who completed the half marathon with Manda or ran part of it.

Some other friends and family members, including Manda's husband Richard and their twins Jessica and Jack, gathered at the finish to cheer Joggers For Jack as they returned to the Park.

Manda is planning to complete the challenge she set herself at the start of the year with a half marathon in Horsham on 18th October. Friends and family will once again be out in force (socially distanced of course!) to join Manda.

So far the Joggers For Jack have raised £1,908. Manda would love to get this total up to £2,000 - all support (either running with Manda and her team on 18th October or making a donation via her Justgiving page) is very welcome:

Huge thanks to Manda, Danny, Sharon, Scott, Sarah, Claire, Denise and Sujan for all their efforts so far and to the Joggers For Jack support team too. We are so grateful to everyone who has donned their running shoes or made a donation to help PSDS - good luck for the third (and final!) half marathon in October.
