During the first couple of months of 2020, a number of schools had signed up to support PSDS during Down Syndrome Awareness Week in March. Twelve schools had requested collecting tins, bunting and leaflets and were getting ready to rock their mismatched socks when the Covid-19 lockdown measures were announced.
Sadly, many schools had no choice but to put their fundraising plans on hold. However, in the past few weeks a few have been getting in touch to let us know that they managed to raise some funds before lockdown hit.
We are so grateful to our friends at Meath Green School (Horley), St Wilfrid's Catholic School (Crawley), Horsham Nursery and Manor Green College (Crawley) who together have raised over £400 for PSDS by wearing mufti and mismatched socks.
Our fundraising income during Down Syndrome Awareness Week 2020 has been drastically reduced, so we are incredibly pleased that the four schools above all managed to go ahead with at least some of their planned activities.
We have heard that some of the other schools are planning to rock their socks later in the year and we can't wait to hear how they get on too.
Huge thanks to our wonderful friends from the pre-schools and nurseries, infants and juniors schools and secondary schools who have pledged their ongoing support of PSDS. You all rock!
