PSDS member Lily has been working really hard on her walking during the Covid-19 lockdown. She has made such fantastic progress that Lily's efforts were turned in to a fundraising challenge in support of three charities who mean a great deal to Lily and her family:
- The Brompton Fountain, charitable arm of the Royal Brompton Hospital where 4 and a half year old Lily spent the first 7 months of her life and had her life-saving heart surgery in May 2016;
- PSDS, where Lily has benefited from a number of services including occupational therapy, speech therapy and one-to-one learning through our DIGBIES pre-school scheme; and
- The Children's Trust, Tadworth, which has also supported Lily and her family with access to specialist therapies and hydrotherapy swimming
The original aim was for Lily to walk 150 lengths of the parallel bar walking aids she has at home by her "Happy Heart Day" of 13th May, with a fundraising target of £1,500 to be shared between her three charities.
But determined Lily smashed all her goals - raising well over £2,000 in total (which meant a fabulous donation of £790 to each of the three charities), completing her walking target ahead of schedule and in fact walking a total of 161 lengths of her parallel bars and lengths of the garden.
It's clear to see that Lily put her heart and soul in to completing her challenge - we are all incredibly proud of lovely Lily and so grateful to everyone who donated in support of her efforts.
Well done Lily - not only are you a true heart warrior, you are an absolutely wonderful fundraiser and charity ambassador!
