Climb On, Irene!

Feeling on top of the world, PSDS supporter Irene made it to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest mountain in Africa, on 14th October. Summing up conquering the summit, 5895m above sea level, Irene said it was really hard work and so cold when she posed for her photo in her PSDS t-shirt that she had 6 jumpers on and a bottle of hot water under her clothing to keep warm! But the real warmth comes from Irene's smile - justifiably proud of her achievement in not only making it to the top, but also raising over £1,800 for PSDS along the way. A really fantastic amount of money for which we are hugely grateful.

Inspired by her cousin's daughter, Phoebe, Irene decided to turn her adventure of a lifetime in to an opportunity to support PSDS, as a thank you for the support we have given to Phoebe and her family. Irene signed up to our special PSDS 21 Champions Campaign with a pledge to raise £1,000 - and, just like the Kilimanjaro summit, Irene has conquered her fundraising target!

Phoebe's proud mum Toulla says: "Our little girl is simply a joy. She's happy. She's cheeky. She's determined. She makes us laugh and knows her own mind. Phoebe is a far cry from what we were led to believe she would be like. PSDS has had a role in this, giving us the support to be able to support our child. Helping Phoebe achieve what she is able to achieve without applying limitations. Simply put...we love PSDS!"

We met Phoebe's lovely family before Phoebe had even been born and it has been an absolute pleasure watching her grow and hearing her do so well. Looks like Phoebe has the same determination as Irene, must run in the family!

Well done Irene, thank you so much for your support and thank you Phoebe for being such an inspiration!
