If you've been enjoying the great outdoors recently, you will have encountered quite a lot of mud. June's been far from flaming and rather soggy to say the least!
Annie's mum Katherine is the first to admit she's definitely not a fan of splashing about in muddy puddles - except she and her pal Clair did just that (and more!) when they took part in the East Grinstead 10k Mud Monsters challenge earlier this month.
The former dirt-dodging duo got well and truly stuck in (although thankfully not stuck in the mud) making their way round the whole course to raise funds for PSDS. Thanks to their mud-nificent efforts, they smashed their fundraising target and have clocked up £715 so far.
We asked Katherine to tell us about the course..."My highlight was definitely the mud water slide which ended with Clair submerged in the mud pool!" And any low points? "Wading through manure scented mud swamps and dodging the flies! It was definitely a challenge, but it was hilarious and an experience I will never forget. I'm so pleased we did well with the fundraising, thanks to everyone for their support."
Inspite of the photo evidence above (nice work keeping those t-shirts so clean, ladies!), we are assured that it took at least 4 showers and a good scrub with some lemon juice to get rid of all the mud.
We think Katherine and Clair deserve a nice treat for putting themselves through such an ordeal, although we're not sure how the suggestion of a mud-pack will go down right now... Just a little bit too early perhaps?!!
