Chair Extraordinaire

It was a heady mix of emotions at our AGM in June. Listening to the reviews of 2016 highlighted what an incredibly successful year it had been - both in terms of raising funds and raising awareness. There was definitely much to celebrate and be proud of - not least all the amazing achievements of our fabulous children. As well as reflecting on our success and the support we have received from so many wonderful people and organisations, it was also an occasion to reflect on the success and support that Rick has brought to his role as Chairman over the past 10 years.

The AGM marked Rick's last official duty as Chair, but it's not farewell as the lovely Wates family will still be psds members. In fact, Rick has agreed to become our second charity Patron - so that's definitely something else to celebrate!

Recognising the enormous contribution he has made to the charity, psds trustees presented Rick with a personalised canvas featuring photos from the various events and activities he has been so actively involved in during his decade as Chair; from numerous fun days to family gatherings and our milestone 5 and 10 year celebratory events - It's A Knockout and The Big Summer Sleepover.

Marking the next chapter for psds, Vicky Brackett was voted in as Chairman and outlined our strategic focus for the years ahead as psds continues to grow and develop. There will be other opportunities for psds members to engage in strategy discussions over the next few months and further information will be circulated soon.

There are certainly some very exciting (and challenging!) times to come. We look forward to sharing the next stage of our journey with our new Patron and his family and all the fabulous people who make psds what it is - a force to be reckoned with and a pleasure to be part of!
