Didums Did Well

Seventeen teams gathered at the Redhill and Reigate Golf Club on Friday 11th November to do battle for the title of PSDS Quiz Champions 2016. We are very grateful to Nathan and Billy for lending us their parents for the evening - Derek once again did a fantastic job as our quiz master and Lu kept the teams in check as well as keeping track of the scores. Our very generous host, the golf club, made everyone feel welcome and served a delicious supper half way through the quiz.

In addition to the quiz prizes, everyone was very enthusiastic about the fabulous haul of raffle prizes that Ollie's mum Rachael gathered together. The prizes were beautifully presented and we send our thanks to all who donated items for the raffle - including Tinc Reigate, JD Sport Redhill, Juniors Hair Salon, Merstham and Godstone Farm, plus a number of other local businesses and families who are members of psds.

Boosting the funds raised on the night by £200 was the auction of an i-watch very kindly donated by Rory's mum Katrina. But the main prize that all the teams had their eyes on was the little glass trophy accompanied by the title of "PSDS Quiz Champions 2016" and some bottles of fizz. Competition was friendly but fierce with only a handful of points separating the teams in the top half of the leader board. In the end, the winning team was There There Didums, led by Paul Stacey, the Chair of Redhill and Reigate Round Table, who defended their title of PSDS Quiz Champions after being victorious at last year's quiz too. At the other end of the leader board the members of Squad Elsie were awarded with a special prize for being the "best team at not winning". Nearly all 17 teams had a raffle winner at their table, with some teams scooping up a glorious collection of prizes. Some of the members of the golf club bar team had their hard work rewarded by collecting a few raffle prizes too!

A great evening was had by all and a fabulous fundraising result was achieved too with a very respectable £1,919.19 boosting the PSDS coffers!

Thanks to everyone who supported the quiz and congratulations to There There Didums. Just one question remains.....will they make it a hat-trick next year.....?
