This WAS Me

We've received an amazing response to our "This Is Me' photography project during Down Syndrome Awareness Week. Over 1,000 visitors made their way to The Gallery at Denbies Wine Estate, Dorking, where they were greeted by 50 stunning portraits of our children with Down syndrome. The response has been incredible and not only have we raised just under £900 during our few days at Denbies, we also raised awareness too. For the six days the exhibition was open to members of the public, our team of volunteers chatted with visitors and shared their own personal experiences as parents, grandparents, siblings and friends of children with a wide array of talents and interests, not to mention enormous potential.

Our preview evening for "This Is Me" on World Down Syndrome Day was attended by just under 200 guests where the opening of our exhibition to mark our 10th anniversary was celebrated along with the launch of our new film.

We are so grateful to the sponsors of "This Is Me" - Canon UK, Unum, Patrick Gardner and Sam's Uncle Paul - and to our hosts, Denbies. But most importantly we are enormously grateful to the fabulous children whose portraits brought the exhibition to life, to our incredible photographer - Andrew Shaylor, our amazing filmmaker - Joss Agnew, the lovely team of volunteers who gave up their time during the Easter break and to every single person who came to visit us at Denbies. What a wonderful week!
